Played by Tom Hiddleston, Loki’s character has had its own share of a transformative journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), turning from the villainous God of Mischief to the saviour of the multiverse. Originally introduced in the 2013 film Thor, Loki played a significant part in the original Avengers team, before being finally killed by Thanos. However, his journey didn’t just end there, as Hiddleston was given the chance to play different versions of Loki in the dedicated series on Disney Plus Hotstar. After sacrificing himself in the epic Loki Season 2 finale, it now seems like the character’s journey has finally come to an end.
Speaking to Variety, Tom Hiddleston revealed the lessons he has learnt from the beloved character. Opening up about his journey, he also explained why Loki’s sacrifice was a perfect conclusion, further adding that his new job of protecting every timeline is “indefinite.”
“Change is possible, growth is necessary, and in order to become the best person, we have to make peace with the past. We have to confront our mistakes, acknowledge our failures, and only then are you in control of your destiny,” he said.

The actor also shared his feelings after the last season concluded on an overwhelming note, with Loki finally discovering his ultimate “glorious purpose” as he takes on the heavy burden of holding the entire multiverse together.
“I feel very happy with the narrative conclusion of season 2. I feel like, as Mobius says, sometimes purpose is more burden than glory, and Loki found his purpose after all, which is to commit himself to protecting the lives of others by holding the timelines together. Where we go from here, I don’t know, I really don’t. He’s listening, he’s watching. That’s all I know for now,” he added.
While it still remains uncertain whether Hiddleston will be returning to play Loki in the Disney Plus series, fans believe the character might have a cameo in the upcoming film, Deadpool & Wolverine. As Mobius is set to appear in the film, suggesting TVA’s role, it is very likely that Loki will appear as well. Apart from that, Hiddleston might also have something to do with Chris Hemsworth’s final outing as the God of Thunder in Thor 5, reuniting the Asgardian brothers.
