The year is about to come to a close and the OTT may have given us one of the biggest releases of the year. This film is not only garnering acclaim for the performances of its actors but has also amassed praise for its direction and themes.

This crime-triller that no one can stop talking about at the moment is Sector 36, Netflix’s latest sensation, which was released on September 13. The film is based on the gruesome Nithari Killings that took place in the years between 2005 and 2006.

Sector 36 follows a corrupt police officer and his quest to find the culprit behind missing children after his own daughter was almost kidnapped. His independent investigation, strongly opposed by his seniors, leads him to a grotesque discovery involving cold-blooded murders and paedophilia.

The role of the police officer, Ram Charan Pandey is portrayed by Deepak Dobriyal, who has given a fantastic depiction of a man in conflict; someone who chooses to follow his heart to get to the root of the crime. While Vikrant Massey is seen in the role of Prem Singh, the heartless man behind the killings of the children. His performance of a monster devoid of any emotions is sure to send chills down your spine. Upon its release, the film was given a score of 7.4 on the IMDB website.

In a recent interview, the director, Aditya Nimbalkar detailed Vikrant Massey’s appearance in the film. He stated, “Honestly, I didn’t choose Vikrant, he chose me as a director.” He revealed that the actor had read the script before him and he was only finalised as the director when his agency sent the production his name.

Sector 36 is the directorial debut of the filmmaker Aditya Nimbalkar while Bodhayan Roychaudhury has penned the story. The cast of the film includes names like Vikrant Massey, Deepak Dobriyal, Akash Khurana, Darshan Jariwala and Baharul Islam. It is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande under the banners of Maddock Films and Jio Studios. The cinematography is done by Saurabh Goswami and the editor is A Sreekar Prasad.
