The Sabarmati Report Lands in Trouble With CBFC, Vikrant Massey Film To Undergo Reshoots?
The Sabarmati Report was slated to release on May 3 but it seems like the film could get delayed.

Vikrant Massey’s The Sabarmati Report has ran into trouble with the Censor Board, a new report has claimed. The Sabarmati Report is directed by Ranjan Chandel and it revolves around the tragic burning of the Sabarmati Express in Godhra, Gujarat, 22 years ago on February 22, 2002. The film was slated to release on May 3. However, it is now claimed that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has advised to push the release due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The makers applied for a certificate at the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Its Examining Committee saw the film and had objections to certain scenes. Also, fearing that it might violate the model code of conduct as laid down by the Election Commission of India, it has been advised that it should be released after the last phase of elections, which will take place on June 1."

A second source added, “The CBFC’s reservation was that certain moments in the film can hurt the sentiments of a section of the moviegoers. Hence, the team of the film might reshoot the sequence."

The film’s teaser was released last month and it revealed that Vikrant plays the role of a journalist covering the aftermath of the Sabarmati Express attacks. He teams up with a fellow reporter, Raashii Khanna, and a senior anchor, Ridhi Dogra. Together, they uncover the truth about the Godhra incident, believing it to be an attack on pilgrims, not an accident. As they try to gather evidence, they face attacks and scrutiny from their bosses.

Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the film features Vikrant Massey and Raashi Khanna in the lead. The Sabarmati Report also stars Riddi Dogra, who was last seen in Jawan. If The Sabarmati Report postpones, there will be no release on May 3 weekend. To top it off, there might also not be a big release in the cinemas before Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s sports themed film, Mr And Mrs Mahi, which is slated to release on May 31.
