Sara Ali Khan Addresses Her Relatable Style And Down-to-Earth Image: ‘I Am Just Who I Am’
Sara Ali Khan opens up about her down-to-earth image and relatable style, addressing speculation about her public persona being ‘curated’.

Sara Ali Khan has been a subject of discussion since her 2018 debut with Kedarnath. Some appreciate her humorous shayari and down-to-earth style, often opting for everyday clothes over high-end designer wear. Others, however, speculate that this image might be a deliberate creation by her PR team, considering her background as the daughter of actors Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh. In a conversation with Harper’s Bazaar, Sara addressed these perceptions, asserting that her public persona isn’t ‘curated.’

When questioned about whether her relatable image was a deliberate choice, Sara responded, “I don’t think I’ve spent any energy, to the dismay of some people, curating an image of myself. That’s something I would do for the camera, where I curate characters. In real life I am just who I am —whether that’s somebody who goes to the gym with five pairs of shorts and alternates them with crop tops, or someone who goes to the airport in athleisure but can also go in jeans and a t-shirt.”

Reflecting on her upbringing with her brother Ibrahim Ali Khan, Sara shared that it was different from what people might have expected. She described it as a ‘normal life’ with their mother, Amrita, saying, “We went to the mall to play video games or eat at the food court. That’s the life I was used to, growing up. Today, I appreciate my job. But when I’m not working—going to the gym, cafe, travelling, I just try not to take my persona very seriously and do what I feel like.”

Following Saif and Amrita’s divorce when Sara was young, she and her brother were raised by their mother. Saif later remarried and has two more children, Taimur and Jeh, with Kareena Kapoor.

Professionally, Sara remains active, having recently appeared in the historical drama Ae Watan Mere Watan, earning acclaim for her performance. She is now preparing for the release of her upcoming film, Metro In Dino, where she stars alongside Aditya Roy Kapur.

Directed by Anurag Basu, Metro In Dino serves as the long-awaited follow-up to the 2007 hit Life In A Metro. This anthology film is set to explore “heartwarming stories of contemporary couples” and features a stellar ensemble cast, including Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta, Fatima Sana Shaikh.
