Poonam Pandey has passed away. Her team confirmed the news with News18. “She passed away last night,” her team said. The news of her death was first revealed in a post shared on her official Instagram handle. “This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared,” the post read.
Anjali Arora, who shot to fame through Lock Upp Season 1, shared her deep sadness over the unexpected passing of her co-participant and close friend, Poonam Pandey. Anjali’s social media post expressing shock and disbelief has prompted an outpouring of sympathy from fans and fellow contestants.
Anjali took to her Instagram and wrote, “In shock and disbelief after hearing the news about #PoonamPandey. Her sudden departure has left me speechless, and so heartbroken. It’s hard to accept she’s no longer with us. Life is too short. RIP ”
Saisha Shinde, another co-contestant of Poonam from Lock Upp and her friend, expressed her shock. Taking to her Instagram Stories, she wrote, ‘Im with you.. you’re with me. Forever”. In another post, she wrote, “I can’t do this” with a broken heart emoji.
On the work front, Poonam was last seen in the first season of Lock Upp hosted by Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut. Though she did not win the show, she did expand her fan base. The first season of Kangana Ranaut’s Lock Upp was won by stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui. Lock Upp had 14 contestants including Payal Rohatgi, Kaaranvir Bohra, Anjali Arora, Babita Phogat among others.
