Power Star Pawan Kalyan is one of the most popular actors in the Telugu film industry. He currently holds the position of Minister of Panchayat Raj, Rural Development and Rural Water Supply; Environment, Forests, Science and Technology in the Government of Andhra Pradesh and an MLA representing the Pitapuram constituency. He is known for his performances on-screen and off-screen. Recently, in an interview, his mother, Anjana Devi revealed that she never named her son Pawan Kalyan. She also shared some interesting facts about her son.
His mother was asked how she felt about the fact that her son had taken charge as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state and it has already been 100 days. To this, she proudly said, “He worked so hard and now he’s enjoying the fruit of that effort. But now, the responsibility has increased even more.” She shared that her son has worked quite hard and now he has earned the opportunity to serve the people of the state.
It has been 10 years since the formation of the Jana Sena Party, founded by the star. The interviewer asked Anjana Devi how she felt when her son had distanced himself from home, set aside his career at peak and spent nights among the people where no drinking water was available. She replied, “As a mother, I felt bad when I saw him go through all that… but he would behave the same even at home. He would sleep anywhere. After returning from a film shoot, he would sleep on the sofa. He never cared about sleeping in his room. He worked hard but never complained about it. He never asked for anything since his childhood.
When asked about the star’s favourite dish, his mother revealed that Pawan Kalyan loves Pulao. While he would eat anything, he has a special liking for pulao. The interviewer asked her opinion on the Bro actor undertaking spiritual vows. To his mother, taking a vow is a good thing and she shared that she feels blessed that he son performed penance at the Sri Venkateswara Temple. She revealed a childhood anecdote about the actor and said that as a child, he used to wear Ayyappa Swamy mala.
Did you know that Pawan Kalyan’s Annaprasana (first solid food eating ceremony) was celebrated at Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy, Tirupati? Her son was six months old and since her husband, Konidela Venkat Rao, was a police constable, he had carried a knife. She shared that the knife, pen, books and prasadam were placed in front of baby Pawan Kalyan and the first thing he picked was the knife and then the pen. Her mother assumed that he son would be an angry person, but when he picked the pen, she thought she would work hard for the people, just like his father.
When asked about Venkat Rao’s influence on Pawan Kalyan, Anjana Devi remarked that the Vakeel Saab actor spent a lot of time with his father, who was always calm. His father too never cared much about what he ate and did not talk too much. She believes that it might be one of the reasons why her husband had a special liking for him.
According to her, Pawan Kalyan is closest to his brother and sister-in-law, Chiranjeevi and Surekha. It was the Bholaa Shankar actor who took the most care of Pawan Kalyan and carried him around to click pictures. Even now, the duo spend a lot of time together. She also revealed in the interview that she did not name her son Pawan Kalyan, but Sri Kalyan Kumar, after Lord Venkateswara.
