It has been more than a week since Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot. The couple got married on June 23, receiving blessings from their parents. Despite their different religions, they did not follow Hindu or Muslim wedding customs, choosing a civil marriage instead. They exchanged vows at Shatrughan Sinha’s Bandra residence.
However, their interfaith marriage has faced criticism from some on social media. Detractors of interfaith marriages have been spreading hate against the two of them. Recently, Sonakshi’s friend Prachi Mishra revealed that during the wedding, both Azaan and mantra chanting were performed, sharing a video to support her statement.
During the civil marriage, Sonakshi wore her mother Poonam Sinha’s saree, embracing a very simple look. Now, a heartwarming video from Sonakshi’s wedding has been shared by her friend on Instagram, winning everyone’s admiration. Prachi, who posted the video, accompanied it with a very special caption. She revealed how they were all ‘ladke waale’ a day before the wedding and then they changed sides and became ‘ladki waale’. She further praised the ‘blockbuster jodi’ and said that they were not affected by the negative publicity.
“The marriage began with a civil ceremony followed by the Hindu custom of Kanyadan (the bride’s parents giving away their daughter to the groom). This essential ceremony became even more holy when the chanting of the mantras divinely amalgamated with the sound of the Azaan from the mosque,” she wrote in the caption.
Sonakshi Sinha was last seen in the big-budget box office debacle Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and the Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Sonakshi has an interesting horror comedy with Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Salem lined up, titled Kakuda. The trailer of Kakuda was released on July 2 and was seen taking a jibe at Stree and Bhool Bhulaiyya 2. After the recent success of the horror comedy Munjya, expectations from Kakuda are also high.
