Nayanthara Set To Return In Mookuthi Amman’s Sequel. Deets Inside

News regarding Nayanthara playing the lead role in the sequel to the 2020 blockbuster Mookuthi Amman went viral a few weeks ago. Media reports suggested that the makers were considering actresses Trisha Krishnan and Shruti Haasan for the lead role. Recently, the makers announced that Nayanthara will indeed be playing the lead role in Mookuthi Amman 2. The production house shared a video on social media announcing Nayanthara’s return as a goddess in the sequel. The makers shared the video and said, “Let the good receive her blessings Let the evil be crushed at her feet. Lady Superstar #Nayanthara is back to enthrall us in #MookuthiAmman2”.

Mookuthi Amman starred RJ Balaji, Nayanthara, Moulee, Urvashi and Smruthi Venkat. The makers have not yet revealed whether the second part of the film will have the same cast and crew or if there will be any changes. So far, only Nayanthara’s role has been confirmed.

Nayanthara was not slated to play the lead role in Mookuthi Amman. In an interview, shedding light on the casting process, the film’s director RJ Balaji said he initially approached Shruti Haasan, one of her close friends. She was enthusiastic about being a part of this project and readily agreed to take on the role. Balaji said, “The lady superstar (Nayanthara) contacted me.” She inquired why he hadn’t approached her for the film. This conversation ultimately led to Lady Superstar Nayanthara securing the role of Goddess Mookuthi Amman in the film, altering the course of casting decisions.

Nayanthara impressed the audience with her acting skills in the film’s first installment. She was nominated for the South Indian International Movie Awards under the Best Actress in a Leading Role category. Besides Balaji and Nayanthara, Mookuthi Amman starred a huge star cast of Urvashi, Smruthi Venkat, Ajay Ghosh and others.
