Superstar Rajinikanth is busy with several projects, including the highly anticipated Coolie, which is set for a release next year. The makers have announced a new cast member for the release, with a new character poster, which has created a frenzy among the fans and the social media. That new actor is the Manjummel Boys star, Soubin Shahir.
The announcement was made through a tweet on the production’s official X handle, with the actor’s exclusive new look poster. The tweet on the image read, “#CoolieUpdates begin! Introducing #SoubinShahir as Dayal, from the world of #Coolie.” The poster shows Soubin in a never-before-seen avatar, sporting a menacing look. He is captured in a pitch-black background, sitting with a cigarette in his mouth, his eyes focused on the gold wristwatch in his hands.

Coolie is being made under the direction of Lokesh Kanagaraj, which marks his first collaboration with superstar Rajinikanth. The cast includes Rajnikanth in the titular role along with an ensemble cast of Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan and Mahendran. Lokesh Kanagaraj has co-penned the film with Chandhru Anbazhagan while it is being produced by Kalanidhi Maran, under the banner of Sun Pictures.
For music, the makers have roped in Anirudh Ravichander. The cinematography is being handled by Girish Gangadharan and the editor is Philomin Raj. It is expected to have its theatrical release in 2025.
Soubin Shahir is best known for his work in the blockbuster hit Manjummel Boys, which was released in February this year. Directed and written by Chidambaram, the film became the highest-grossing Malayalam film, collecting over Rs 240 crore at the box office.
