Popular Malayalam actress Manju Warrier has written a Facebook post after watching Malaikottai Vaaliban in theatres. She wrote, “Humour and fantasy are two of the hardest things to create in films. Its absurdity is its beauty. ‘Gandharva’ and ‘Yakshi’ are always present in our stories. After watching the trailer, I went to watch Malaikottai Vaaliban with the intention of flying into a world of fantasy. The deceiving gladiators, the cunning ministers, the bloodthirsty kings, the cruel soldiers, the good people, and various kinds of dancers all reminded me of a story I had read long ago."
She also appreciated the music department and the cinematography of the film in her post and said, “Madhu Neelakandan’s frames are as haunting as a dark canvas." Madhu Neelakandan is the cinematographer and producer of the film. Talking about Mohanlal, she wrote, “What more can I say about Lalettan, who transformed into Vaaliban with his acting and physique! ‘Vaaliban’ is a complete LJP movie." She also said that she was astonished to see the concept and shooting style of the film.
The story of Malaikottai Vaaliban is set in an alternate world and follows the plot of an undisputed warrior whose adventure crosses time and boundaries, challenging every opponent he encounters. The film also stars Sonalee Kulkarni as Rangapattinam Rangarani, Hareesh Peradi as Ayyanar, and Danish Sait as Chamathakan. The film has also been dubbed in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu.
