Lucknow: With the world focusing on the much hyped Jodhpur wedding of Priyanka Chopra with American singer Nick Jonas, the actress’s parental house in UP’s Bareilly district had been in a state of neglect.
But when the news spread that the caretaker of the house cannot manage its decoration on his own and that the house was in the dark, some social workers and district administration came forward to do up the house on their own on Saturday evening.
Speaking to News 18, caretaker of the house, Parmeshwar Rai Pandey said, “The family is quite busy in the wedding and they might have forgotten to give attention to this house. The people of Bareilly, along with the district administration have showered love on their daughter by coming together and decorating the house.”
The Chopra residence in Bareilly is located in the Kunwarpur locality with Parmeshwar Rai Pandey as its caretaker for the last 20 years. Pandey, who lives there alone, couldn’t manage the decoration on his own. Members of the Radheyshyam Smriti Samaroh Ayojan Samiti, a social group, reached Priyanka’s parental house and started decking it up. PeeCee’s neighbours also came forward to lend a hand.
After a whirlwind courtship, Priyanka and Nick sealed the deal with a Western wedding ceremony on December 1 at Jodhpur's Umaid Bhawan Palace.
The people of Raebareli have also appealed to the actress to visit her parental house after her wedding.
