Lalita D’Silva, a renowned caregiver who has served high-profile families such as Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, recently opened up about her experiences working with the Konidela family. Currently caring for Ram Charan and his wife Upasana’s daughter, Klin Kaara Konidela, Lalita shared her insights in a candid interview with Hindi Rush.
Speaking about her time with the Konidela family, Lalita described them as “warm and welcoming,” highlighting the stark differences between the star cultures of Mumbai and Hyderabad. “From the Ambani family to the Konidela family, they’re all the same in their warmth and hospitality,” Lalita remarked. She noted that the primary difference lies in their eating habits due to their South Indian roots.
Lalita, who became widely recognised as Taimur Ali Khan’s caregiver —a term she prefers to avoid— expressed her admiration for the humility and kindness of the Konidela family. “Everything about the family is very good. If I need to rest, Upasana madam takes care of the child. Currently, they are in London, and Ram Charan sir and Upasana ma’am are hands-on parents, managing everything themselves,” she said.
Lalita’s praise extended particularly to Upasana, the chairperson of the Apollo Hospitals chain. Despite her high-profile position, Upasana is down-to-earth and caring. “Upasana will place her hand on my shoulder and ask, ‘Did you have your tea?’ The entire family is extremely normal. They don’t forcefully ask you to stand and take care of their baby. They told me, ‘Aap outstation se aaye ho toh treat us like your family,’ and now they’re my family,” Lalita shared warmly.
Her experience with the Konidela family contrasts with her past roles, yet she finds similarities in the warmth and welcoming nature of the families she has worked with. Lalita’s comments shed light on the genuine kindness and down-to-earth attitudes of some of India’s most famous families.
Lalita also discussed the intense paparazzi attention Taimur Ali Khan received, noting that Indians worldwide are “obsessed” with Saif and Kareena’s son. She contrasted this with her experience in Hyderabad, where the paparazzi culture is more controlled. “Wahan maine aisa pagal crowd nahi dekha jaisa Bombay mein hai. Wahan bhi media pareshan karti hai par handle kar lete hain karne wale (The paparazzi there are much stricter than in Mumbai. We can step out without facing the same craziness. Although the media can be bothersome, it’s manageable),” she explained.
