Kate Beckinsale Reveals Why She Was Hospitalised For 6 Weeks

In a shocking revelation, actress Kate Beckinsale has disclosed a mysterious health issue that led to her extended stay in the hospital. In response to a troll who asked the Serendipity actor to “do some squats” as she had gotten too thin, she came back hard. Last week, Kate shared a video of herself getting ready along with a playful jibe at her critics. She added lyrics from the Kayne West song Runaway that said, “Let’s have a toast for the douche bags, Let’s have a toast for the a*****es, Let’s have a toast for the scumbags.”

As soon as the video gained traction, many of her fans took to the comment section. While many genuinely shared concerns about her health and well-being, a section of users were seen trolling the actress for showing off her extremely lean figure.

In an instant response, Beckinsale recalled her stepfather’s (Roy Battersby) death, stating that the loss, along with her mother’s diagnosis of stage 4 cancer, has made her lose a lot of weight due to stress and grief. Further, Kate revealed that she was hospitalised for six long weeks due to a hole in her oesophagus.

“I was in the hospital for six weeks because the grief had burned a hole in my oesophagus, which made me vomit copious amounts of blood, and I found eating very hard, and I just worked very, very hard on a movie that was actually quite triggering because it also involved the theme of the death of my father. So I’m not really concerned about what you think about my ass. Maybe you should worry about your own,” she wrote. Earlier in March, the actress announced her hospitalisation but refrained from revealing the reason behind her medical scare. She continued to share pictures and videos from her hospital stay and visits from friends and family.

Notably, this is not the first time that Beckinsale has shut down body shamers. In May this year, the actress, in response to a fan comment, explained her family situation, further revealing she spent six weeks in the hospital due to a Mallory Weiss tear caused by stress that ripped a hole between her oesophagus and stomach.
