Kamal Haasan and Bigg Boss Contestant Get Rs 100 Crore Defamation Notice
The notice, sent on Saturday, accuses Raghuram of using the word cheri, or slum dweller, for a co-contestant, thus “hurting the sentiments” of those from the underprivileged sections of the society.

Chennai: A fringe group has sent a Rs 100 crore defamation notice to actor Kamal Haasan, choreographer Gayathri Raghuram and three other persons for alleged derogatory comments made during the Tamil version of reality show Bigg Boss.

The notice, sent on Saturday, accuses Raghuram of using the word cheri, or slum dweller, for a co-contestant, thus “hurting the sentiments” of those from the underprivileged sections of the society.

The notice says Haasan, the host of the show, should have objected to Raguhram’s conduct.

“During a press conference, Kamal Haasan did not regret or respond properly to the question when asked about the incident,” said the notice.

Puthiya Tamiligam leader Dr Krishnasamy has demanded an “unconditional apology” from those named in the notice within seven days, failing which “they would be liable to paying Rs 100 crore compensation”.

The notice comes at a time when Haasan, who has been embroiled in a war of words with the ruling AIADMK, has dropped hints of joining politics.
