Joe Jonas Removes 'Diddy' From Cake By The Ocean Song After Sexual Assault Allegations Against Sean Combs
While singing the chorus, Joe Jonas altered the lyric from “Walk for me, baby / I'll be Diddy, you'll be Naomi, woah-oh,” to “Walk for me, baby / I’ll be watching you be Naomi.”

In response to the troubling allegations surrounding Sean Diddy Combs, Joe Jonas has become the latest celebrity to modify his lyrics referencing the music mogul. The singer quietly removed the Diddy mention from his hit song Cake by the Ocean. This change follows a series of serious sexual assault accusations against the rapper. During a recent Jonas Brothers concert, the 35-year-old singer deliberately omitted the name of the controversial figure while performing DNCE’s 2015 hit.

While singing the chorus, Jonas altered the lyric from “Walk for me, baby / I’ll be Diddy, you’ll be Naomi, woah-oh,” to “Walk for me, baby / I’ll be watching you be Naomi.” Fans quickly caught the subtle change when a video of the pop star’s performance at the LDLC Arena in Lyon, France, went viral on TikTok, as reported by BuzzFeed News.

Viewers flooded the comment section, praising the This Is Me artist for his decision. Interestingly, many noted they were unaware that the original song included a reference to Diddy. One comment that received nearly 3 million likes stated, “I didn’t even know Diddy was mentioned in the song.”

The original lyric alluded to Combs’ rumoured relationship with supermodel Naomi Campbell in the early 2000s. Jonas isn’t the only artist taking action in this context. In May, Kesha reportedly changed her song Tik Tok shortly after the initial wave of sexual assault lawsuits against Combs surfaced.

She revised the lyric “wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy” to “wake up in the morning like f**k P. Diddy” during a surprise performance at Renee Rapp’s Coachella set. When asked about the change by reporters at LAX on May 9, Kesha confirmed it would be a permanent adjustment.

“I stand by that,” the Die Young hitmaker said at the time. She added, “I’m not the kind of person that just shuts the fk up. I know what I stand for. I know my integrity is rock solid, so I speak the truth,” according to OK Magazine. Kesha also expressed her disdain for the music industry, saying it can do whatever it wants if they take issue with her actions, reported BuzzFeed.

Combs reportedly faces charges related to racketeering, sex trafficking and other serious offences following his September 16 arrest. He is being held in the infamous Metropolitan Detention Center at present.
