Jaideep Ahlawat’s undeniable talent earned him recognition and love from fans over the last few years and rightly so. However, the actor had his own share of struggles and went through a lot while trying to make a name in the industry. In a recent chat, he opened up on the considerable challenges that he faced during his initial days in Mumbai. He also recalled when he vowed never to take buses in Mumbai.
During a chat with The Hollywood Reporter India, Jaideep Ahlawat shared, “What people call ‘struggles,’ we didn’t feel it that way because we had people to share them with.” However, travelling in Mumbai wasn’t easy, as the actor admitted while also recounting an anecdote related to the same. The actor shared, “One day, I boarded a bus to save money. By the time I reached Infiniti Mall from Malad, I was drenched in sweat. So, I just walked into the mall and sat there for a while. It became a routine whenever I travelled that route from Malad.”
“In Mumbai, you are drenched half the time either by the rains or the heat. And I sweat profusely. That day, I realised I couldn’t do it anymore. I decided that even if it meant giving up one roti, I wouldn’t travel like that again. So, I’d go inside Infiniti Mall, sit in the free AC for half an hour and then continue my journey,” added Jaideeep Ahlawat.
Vijay Varma, too, joined Jaideep Ahlawat during the conversation. Continuing the conversation, Vijay noted that the experiences never felt like struggles. “Despite having nothing, we felt that we had everything and were kings,” Vijay said. The actor duo also mentioned that their days at FTII were among the happiest of their lives.
Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma’s friendship dates back to years ago when they were students at the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune. They have also appeared together in a few projects — such as Chittagong (2012), Baaghi 3 (2020) and Jaane Jaan (2023). Rajkummar Rao too was their classmate. Interestingly, the trio together featured in Chittagong, directed by Bedabrata Pain.
In terms of work, Jaideep Ahlawat was last seen in Maharaj, co-starring Junaid Khan, Aamir Khan’s son.
