Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, popularly known as Thalapathy Vijay is an Indian actor, dancer, playback singer and philanthropist who predominantly works in Tamil cinema.

He is one of the highest-paid actors in the industry and is referred to as Thalapathy by fans and media.

Poove Unakkaga was the breakthrough film that gave him the biggest recognition in 1996, earning him widespread recognition and acceptance among fans of all ages and backgrounds.

The romantic film is about a guy who chooses to give up his love and bring their families together after learning that the Hindu woman he loves is in love with a Christian man.

Originally named Ilavarasan, he was affectionately called Ilavarasu by his fans. He is known for films like Jai Bhim (2021), Muthukku Muthaaga (2011) and 7aum Arivu (2011).

With the 1996 release of the Prabhu and Madhubala film Panchalankurichi, he became well-known as a cinematographer. He contributed to another Prabhu film the next year, Periya Thambi, which the now-famous character artist and producer Chithra Lakshmanan helmed. Ilavarasu worked as a cinematographer on two movies in 1998: Ninaithen Vandhai and Iniyavalae. He won the 1999 Best Cinematographer award for his contributions in these movies.

Additionally, he has contributed as a cinematographer to movies such as Sabash and Aezhayin Sirippil, bringing his total cinematography credits to 13 movies.

Joseph Vijay is known for various films like Leo, Bigil, Master, Beast, and many more.

He has received multiple awards including a SIIMA Award, three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards from the Tamil Nadu government, and eight Vijay Awards from Star India. Based on Indian celebrities’ earnings, the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list has featured him multiple times.

Vijay is currently working on The Greatest of All Time, reportedly his second-last film. Whistle Podu, a song from the film, is currently available on YouTube, and fans are expecting the entire film to be a great hit.

According to reports, Vijay will concentrate on Thalapathy 69, his last film, after GOAT. The information about his last movie is not confirmed yet. Following his incredible film journey, he plans to join politics and also announced the formation of his political party ‘Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’ in 2024.
