After taking on myriad roles on social media, Srishti Dixit is all set to make her big-screen debut with The Great Indian Family, starring Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chhillar in lead roles, where she portrays Vicky’s sister. In an exclusive conversation with News18, she discussed her debut, her bonding with Vicky Kaushal and how the entry of other digital creators into the film industry only makes her prouder.

Talking about the shooting experience during Covid, Srishti shared, “The shooting experience was amazing. It was just when the first lockdown was lifting and we were all very excited to get back to work. We would only take our masks off during scenes.

For Srishti, looking at veterans actors – how they read their lines, how they go into a scene, how they interpret their dialogues and think like their characters was pretty surreal. “I am actually glad that I had a smaller part in the film and I didn’t have to do too much because I don’t think I was ready for a full-fledged acting role at that point,” she said.

Srishti was all praise for her co-star Vicky Kaushal too. Dubbing him the most approachable star on the sets, she said, “He plays my brother in the film and our bonding, both on and off the sets, was pretty nice. We would often joke with each other and have fun on the sets. We would all eat together much like the joint family we play on the screen. Vicky is extremely helpful. He’s such a kind, warm person. I was very nervous to even speak to him, but when I did, I realised that he’s like a guy next door. He is very approachable, very easy to talk to and has no starry airs. He was the most hard-working, warmest and approachable person on sets. I wish I could learn that skill from him.”

Srishti’s good friends – fellow content creators Kusha Kapila and Dolly Singh – are also making their debut on the big screen. Speaking of competition, she said, “Honestly, I don’t feel any kind of competition, because any content creator who has gotten acting opportunity, has got it on merit. For my creator community, it’s always a big deal. I feel great that a Kusha Kapila has two releases – Sukhee and Thank You For Coming on the horizon. The same goes with Dolly Singh and Viraj Ghelani. If we make the best of these opportunities, only more will come our way. I am genuinely very close friends with all of them and I want them to do very well.”
