Ajay Devgn is one of the accomplished actors in Bollywood and has essayed many prominent characters in several hit films. One of those films is the 1994 hit Suhaag directed by Kuku Kohli. According to the reports, Suhaag produced on a budget of Rs 3 crore, turned out to be a blockbuster for the makers. As per the media reports, this film went on to become a commercial success globally and earned Rs 12.14 crore worldwide. Besides Ajay, the audience also appreciated Akshay Kumar’s acting prowess in Suhaag. This was the first film starring Ajay and Akshay in the lead roles. Produced by NH Studioz, Suhaag starred an ensemble star cast of actors Karisma Kapoor, Nagma, Aruna Irani and others. Among the Suhaag’s star cast, Aruna Irani was nominated for the Filmfare Awards, under the best supporting actress category.
Not only the acting, but the songs in Suhaag also earned praise from the audience. One of these hit tracks is the Gore Gore Mukhde Pe Kala Kala Chasma. Udit Narayan & Alka Yagnik rendered vocals to this track composed by Anand-Milind. Sameer penned the lyrics. Suhaag’s album was one of the best-selling albums of 1994.
Director Rohit Shetty made an interesting revelation related to this film. He made this revelation on an episode reality show Great Indian Laughter Challenge’s 5th season back in 2017. Akshay Kumar, along with Sajid Khan and Shreyas Talpade judged this show. Rohit appeared with the cast of his film Golmaal Again – Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra, Tabu, Arshad Warsi, and Tushhar Kapoor – on the show in October 2017. There, Akshay joked that when Rohit first met him as an assistant director on the sets of Suhaag, he used to call him sir.
At this, Rohit blushed and said, “During Suhaag, I was his body double. I even learnt his walk for it." Then, on Akshay’s insistence, Rohit copied Akshay’s walk on the show’s stage. Rohit eventually directed Akshay in his 2021 film Sooryavanshi, which was among the commercially successful films of the year. Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif and others also acted in Sooryavanshi.
