Fans are outraged after SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu was inappropriately “touched” during their recent Lollapalooza performance. On September 8, SEVENTEEN performed in front of massive crowds in Berlin, impressing everyone with Mingyu’s amazing stage presence. While his talent and charisma rightly stole the show, a concerning moment caught the attention of many online when a fan was seen touching the idol inappropriately. As SEVENTEEN took the stage, eager CARATs (fans of SEVENTEEN) were excited to see the group up close for the first time. Mingyu, in particular, reportedly stepped off the stage and approached the barricade to interact more closely with fans.
Unfortunately, while he was engaging with the crowd, someone in the audience reached out and touched his body, specifically near his abs, which sparked outrage.
Fans expressed their anger towards the person responsible, pointing out that Mingyu has been sexualised in the past and that some individuals seem to think they can act however they please without considering the importance of consent. Many fans stressed that touching someone without their permission is never acceptable, regardless of the circumstances, and many fans voiced that Mingyu’s kind gesture of getting close to the audience should have been met with respect.

“The way being weird towards Mingyu online/offline has been so normalised just because he is a good-looking person is disturbing. You don’t have the right to touch any human without their consent just because they happen to be a celebrity. Mingyu is too nice for some of you,” wrote a fan.

“Anyone who DARED to touch and feel Mingyu’s stomach when he was distracted and excited to be near carats. I hope you will never see seventeen, ever again. Not only you people have been stalking them to where they stayed but also touching them without consent,” wrote another fan.

“To that person who touched Mingyu’s tummy without his consent, I wish your day forever Monday, your food is always cold and your pillow is always hot. Keep your hands to yourself,” commented a viewer.

On the day of the incident, SEVENTEEN headlined the Lollapalooza music festival in Berlin, performing alongside big names like OneRepublic, Sam Smith, Martin Garrix, Burna Boy and The Chainsmokers on the Main Stage South. Mingyu also gained attention for his playful and heartwarming interaction with fans off-stage, where he took the time to pose for pictures and engage with the audience. His bandmate, S.Coups, had to step off the stage to bring Mingyu back so they could continue the performance.
The group reportedly wrapped up their set with fan-favourite songs such as Clap, SOS, HOT, Headliner, Together (English version), God Of Music and Aju Nice.
Koreaboo informs that this performance also marked the final group appearance for SEVENTEEN as member Jeonghan has to begin his mandatory military service. Other members are expected to enlist as well, with a full group comeback anticipated around 2030.
