Three officers of the vigilance unit of the Uttar Pradesh power department, including the father of Bollywood actress Disha Patani, have tested positive for coronavirus. Jagdish Patani and the two other officers have tested positive for COVID-19, Additional CMO Ashok Kumar said on Wednesday.
The three officers were investigating a transformer scam, he said. Disha Patani's father is a deputy SP in the vigilance unit of the state power department here.
The zonal chief engineer's office has also been closed for next 48 hours, the ACMO added.
The COVID19 infection in the state continues to spread with 4154 fresh COVID19 cases reported in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday taking the total tally of COVID19 infected people to 1,04,388. The total number of fatalities so far in the state has been recorded at 1857 with 40 fresh deaths on Wednesday, out of which Kanpur has recorded the maximum number of 234 fatalities. As per the data of the UP Health Department till date 60558 people have been discharged from hospitals while there were 41973 active cases in the state.
In the state capital Lucknow out of 336 fresh COVID19 positive cases, cabinet minister Brajesh Pathak tested positive for COVID19 and issued an appeal to people who have met him recently to get themselves tested. “After symptoms of coronavirus, I got tested on the advice of doctors. I tested positive for Covid-19. Those who came in contact with me in the past few days are requested to follow government guidelines and quarantine themselves and get themselves tested,” the minister tweeted on Wednesday.
Also, two staffers of the 1090 Women Powerline tested positive for the COVID19 infection after which the premises of the powerline was closed down for two days for sanitization. The services will however continue to work with the help of UP 112 emergency services by the time the 1090 premises is sanitized.
