Director Dibakar Banerjee, excited about LSD 2’s release, recently talked about his friendship with Karan Johar. He mentioned how Karan looks out for those around him. They’ve worked together on anthology films like Bombay Talkies, Ghost Stories and Lust Stories. Though they don’t meet often, Dibakar said Karan was the one who initiated their friendship.

In a chat with Siddharth Kannan on YouTube, Dibakar said he enjoyed working on the anthologies, especially because he’s friends with Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap. He appreciated Karan for reaching out first and saw working with these directors as a chance to reach more audiences. “Because of all of them, the film gets promoted in a good way so my film gets a chance. The moment I was offered Bombay Talkies, I said, ‘Yes, I am doing it.’ Because working with them will help my brand identity. I really loved that experience,” he said.

Dibakar Banerjee also talked about his friendship with Karan Johar. He remembered a time when Karan styled his hair in Paris and made him an outfit. The filmmaker said that Karan is like a caring mother. “Karan has styled my hair sitting in Paris. Karan has a motherly side. He takes care of you. He kind of adopted me because I was like an ugly duckling. Because in fashion I am… so he says, ‘Dibakar, you have to do this.’ He designed an outfit that I wore for some premiere,” he said.

Meanwhile, the teaser of Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 was released recently and has created quite a buzz. Recently, the filmmaker appeared on a podcast and said that the film is not controversial. He also opened up about his research process. Speaking on the Dostcast podcast, Dibakar said, “It’s not very edgy or bold; there’s no Hindu-Muslim stuff, I’m not bashing Pakistan. Nor am I bashing India.” He also said that while directing the film, he was nearly pushed to the verge of quitting filmmaking altogether. “But I am too addicted, I am an addict,” he said.
