You’ve probably seen several stand-up comedians. But there is one name that has helped us make sense of what’s happening around us by poking fun at it, and leaving us in splits. Yes, it is none other than Kapil Sharma who has built his stand-up routine on the premise that he has a funny spin to everything serious in the world. Sharma who first appeared on our TV screens a decade ago has managed to carve a niche for himself and even earned the title of ‘King of Comedy’ on Indian Television.
He first appeared on Star One’s The Great Indian Laughter Challenge when stand-up comedy wasn’t a familiar name to most of the Indian viewers. But his potential was such that the audience realized that there was a lot more to reality TV than the run-of-the-mill song and dance-based TV shows. From winning the show’s second season to emerging victorious in Sony's Comedy Circus for numerous seasons, hosting his shows Comedy Nights with Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show and making his Bollywood debut, Kapil has indeed come a long way.
Long before he became a known name, Kapil struggled as a theatre artist. He even appeared in a music video which featured singer-turned-politician Ghuggi. Interestingly, Kapil can also be seen playing a musical instrument.
'Apne Viah Da Dukh' which is an extremely popular Punjabi song features Ghuggi as a Punjabi groom, while Kapil appears as an extra.
