After winning the hearts of fans with his impeccable performances in Bollywood, Bobby Deol is all set to raise a bar higher in the South as well. The B-town actor is gearing up to kickstart his Kollywood career with his debut in Kanguva, directed by Siva. The Tamil film features Bobby Deol, Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, Disha Patani, Ravi Raghavendra and Kovai Sarala in key roles. Now, while speaking to an entertainment news portal, Bobby Deol opened up about working in Pan-Indian films and how the landscape of Indian cinema has evolved. The actor will also mark his debut in the Telugu film industry with projects including Hari Hara Veera Mallu, directed by Krish and NBK 109 by KS Ravindra.
During an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the ‘Animal’ actor said, “Everyone wants to make a great project, and that is the common goal. Being on the sets in Chennai, Hyderabad, or Mumbai doesn’t make much of a difference now.” The actor also expressed his admiration for his co-star Suriya and revealed his reason for signing Kanguva. Bobby stated, “I always wanted to work with Suriya. He is a great actor, and I was excited about being offered Kanguva.”
The actor told the publication that despite not being familiar with the Tamil film industry, he was impressed by director Siva. “He is a great filmmaker and such a gentle soul. He is like a teddy bear, and he has gone on to make such a great film,” he added.
Bobby then spilled the beans into the process of transforming into Udhiran, the antagonist, in Kanguva. Recalling the shooting phase, Bobby said, “The role required significant physical preparation, including wearing a hairpiece, applying scars, and using custom-made contact lenses. We had to shoot in dust and smoke. Many think filmmaking is an easy process, but it is clearly something else altogether. You have to go through the heat, storm fans, dust, etc… but it is so much fun because it satisfies you creatively.”
Directed by Siva, Kanguva is the biggest and most expensive film of this year. It is produced by Vamsi Pramod and KE Gnanavelraja under the banner of Studio Green and UV Creations. With an estimated budget of over 350 crores, the film has been shot across seven different countries on various continents of India. Mark your calendars! Kanguva is all set to release on a massive scale across the globe on October 10.
Talking about his professional commitments, Bobby Deol has been roped in for Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha. The actor also has an untitled film with director Anurag Kashyap and KS Ravindra’s directorial NBK109 in the pipeline. Reports suggest that Bobby Deol will be seen in Koratala Siva’s Telugu film Devara. The film stars Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan.
