Arshad Warsi Breaks Silence On Backlash For Comment On Prabhas: 'Honestly, It’s Okay'
Arshad Warsi recently opened up about the backlash he faced after he remarked on Prabhas’ character in Kalki 2898 AD.

Arshad Warsi left people divided over his comment on Prabhas’ role in Kalki 2898 AD. He shared that the latter resembled a “joker” in the film, which led people to troll and criticise Warsi for his remark. In a recent interview, the 56-year-old actor shared that he was initially affected by the negativity following his comment, but he pays no heed to it now. While speaking to India Today, Arshad Warsi revealed for the first time that he had experienced the downside of fame. However, he acknowledged that dealing with criticism was part and parcel of being a celebrity.

“Honestly, it’s okay. Everyone has their point of view. Also, it’s a democratic country, and everyone is allowed to speak in it. If you are a positive person, anything negative does bother you. However, we have been at a place where stones are thrown, so it doesn’t bother me anymore,” he said.

When asked if he had disabled comments on his Instagram account following the controversy, Warsi revealed that he didn’t even know how it was to be done. Furthermore, the Dhamaal actor was questioned as to whether he is now more cautious of what he says publicly. He jokingly said, “Absolutely, I have decided that I will love every film that I watch. I will love every actor for the rest of my life.”

In the same conversation, he addressed the rumours about whether the controversy was a publicity stunt he pulled to promote his upcoming film, Bandaa Singh Chaudhary. Warsi clarified that when the incident happened, he wasn’t even sure of the film’s release date. He further remarked that there are times when random people manufacture such controversies to create content, but one can never plan controversies or their outcomes.

The starting point of the controversy was Arshad Warsi’s remark on Prabhas’ character in Kalki 2898 AD, where he played Bhairava. Previously, during a chat on the podcast Unfiltered by Samdish, the actor was asked to name a film that he had watched recently and didn’t like much. He immediately named Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic.

The 56-year-old actor shared that he loved Amitabh Bachchan’s acting in the film and heaped praises on him, saying that he was unreal in the film. However, he couldn’t wrap his head around Prabhas’ character. “Prabhas, I am really sad but, why was he like a joker? Why? I want to see a Mad Max yaar, I want to see Mel Gibson over there. Tumne usko kya bana diya yaar. Kyun karte hai aisa mujhe nahi samaj mein aata hai (What have you made of it? Why do they do such things? I can never understand).”

Arshad Warsi’s Bandaa Singh Chaudhary will be released on October 25.
