Angelina Jolie's First They Killed My Father Trailer Is Intensely Gripping
A daughter of Cambodia remembers so the world may never forget. First They Killed My Father arrives on Netflix September 15th.

The trailer of Netflix's new original film First They Killed My Father is here. Directed by Angelina Jolie, the film is the adaptation of Cambodian author and human rights activist Loung Ung’s gripping memoir of surviving the deadly Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1978.

The story is told through Ung's eyes, from the age of five, when the Khmer Rouge came to power, to nine years old. The film depicts the indomitable spirit and devotion of Loung and her family as they struggle to stay together during the Khmer Rouge years.

The trailer released by the makers has no dialogues but it's the emotions and screams that convey the heart touching story, based on real life. The film is also an official entry for the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival.

First They Killed My Father will launch on September 15 in theatres and globally on Netflix.

The film is produced by Angelina Jolie and acclaimed Cambodian director and producer Rithy Panh, director of the Oscar-nominated The Missing Picture. Loung Ung, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, Adam Somner (Bridge of Spies), Michael Vieira (By the Sea) and Charles Schissel (The Prestige) are executive producers, and Academy Award winner Anthony Dod Mantle (Slumdog Millionaire) serves as director of photography.
