Akshay Kumar visited Haji Ali Dargah in Mumbai on Thursday morning. The actor’s visit to the pilgrimage site ahead of the release of his new film, Khel Khel Mein. Photos from his visit have surfaced online, showing him interacting with the authorities at the mosque. Besides offering prayers, Akshay also donated Rs 1.21 Cr for the renovation of the mosque. Akshay was joined by director Mudassar Aziz, who is directing Khel Khel Mein.
In a statement, reported by India Today, Mohammad Ahmed Taher, Administrative officer of Haji Ali Trust said, “With the Haji Ali Dargah’s renovation underway, Padmashri Akshay Kumar, a true Mumbaikar, was the quickest to respond with great warmth and devotion. On Thursday, he generously took responsibility for a section of the renovation expenses, amounting to Rs1,21,00,000.”
“He was warmly received by Mr. Suhail Khandwani, Managing Trustee of Haji Ali Dargah Trust and Mahim Dargah Trust along with his team. We offer our prayers for the departed souls of his parents, Late Aruna Bhatia and Late Hari Om Bhatia, and express our deepest gratitude to him. Prayer for our country’s prosperity and may peace and harmony prevail,” the statement added.

Akshay’s visit to the Dargah comes just a few days after he was seen hosting a langar at his home. A video of the Khel Khel Mein actor had surfaced online showing him distribute food to those in need. Akshay hosted a small langar in his residence and handed out what seems to be homemade food to people in the streets. The actor was joined by his team. In the video, Akshay tried to hide his identity by wearing a cap and a mask. However, fans recognised him almost immediately. The video had gone viral.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Akshay made a donation to a pilgrimage site. He had previously contributed Rs 3 Cr for the Ram Mandir Construction in Ayodhya.
