Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff are gearing up for the release of their upcoming film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. They are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the film is a hit. As such, they recently appeared on YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia’s podcast. Among other things, Akshay Kumar recalled how he broke his back after lifting The Undertaker in Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi.
Akshay Kumar said, “Mujhe bhi yaad hai (the film) aur meri peeth ko bhi yaad hai… Toot gayi thi usko (The Undertaker) uthaya tha. I lifted him, I was mad. He was somewhere around 435 pounds or something and we went ahead and I decided ki okay utha loonga."
“Kar toh liya, sab kuch ho gaya. Teen din baad, ‘khadak’ kuch bol gaya. Then I had a slip disc… Abhi bohot behtareen hai," Akshay added. The injury left Akshay incapacitated to run. After a year of treatment, a doctor suggested hydro-therapy where Akshay Kumar was asked to run and exercise in water. Akshay Kumar got better and he continues to this date to work out in the water.
In 2021, when the film marked 25 years since its release, Akshay revealed on X, formerly Twitter, “A hilarious note to mark 25 years to the release of #KhiladiyonKaKhiladi tomorrow!" Akshay Kumar wrote in his post before adding a little trivia. “A fun fact though: it was wrestler Brian Lee who played The Undertaker in the film," he wrote.
For the unversed, Akshay Kumar had fought The Undertaker’s (Mark William Calaway) lookalike in 1996’s Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi which also starred Rekha and Raveena Tandon in lead roles. Since then, the wrestling sequence from the Bollywood movie has become one of the highlights in Kumar’s long list of action-packed movies.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan will be released in theatres on April 10.
