In the aftermath of the Wayanad landslide disaster, many people have been contributing to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, including numerous movie stars. Actress Navya Nair is among those who have donated. She shared this news on social media. Navya’s parents and son handed over the donation to the authorities on her behalf. “I am currently filming in Kumily. In my absence, my father, mother, and son have fulfilled our humble duty with prayers for our brothers in Wayanad. To friends inquiring about our safety, we are all safe so far,” Navya posted on social media. The actress donated Rs 1 lakh.
The Manju Warrier Foundation also handed over Rs 5 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Actor Mohanlal has arrived in Meppadi, Wayanad to support those affected by the landslides. He was in army uniform and accompanied by Major Ravi. After travelling from Kozhikode, he first visited the army base camp in Meppadi, held discussions, and then proceeded to Mundakkai and Punchiri Muttom.
In Mundakkal, Mohanlal stopped his vehicle, walked around, and visited the areas severely impacted by the landslides. The day before, he had donated Rs 25 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Malayalam actors like Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya, Pearle Maaney Srinish Aravind, Asif Ali and many others have announced donations. Mammootty handed over Rs 20 lakh and Dulquer Salmaan donated Rs 15 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Tovino Thomas also contributed to the relief fund. The actor donated Rs 25 lakh.
It is not just Malayalam actors who have donated for victims of the Wayanad landslide, Nayanthara and Vignesh Sivan, Kamal Haasan, Karthi, Suriya and Jyothika, Chiyaan Vikram, Rashmika Mandanaa and many other stars donated to the relief fund. As of Saturday, the death toll from the natural disaster had crossed 300.
