The trailer of Pulkit Samrat and Richa Chadda's upcoming film, 3 Storeys is out. Directed by Arjun Mukherjee, the film appears to be a thriller that has three different story-lines woven together.
The trailer introduces us to a motley of characters who live in a Mumbai chawl. It tells us that Richa Chadda plays the role of a sexy siren, who can make any man swoon. Pulkit Samrat and Renuka Shahane’s characters have a matchbox full of diamonds and clearly many other secrets that only people who buy the tickets of 3 Storeys will find out. Sharman Joshi and Masumeh Makhija’s characters are still living in the shadow of their past relationship and newcomers Ayesha Ahmed and Ankit Rathi’s characters are all set for an inter-religion marriage which their family members are against. The two-minute long trailer packs drama and suspense and makes the film appear gritty and intriguing.
Talking about the film, director Arjun Mukherjee told News18, "The film is about what lies behind people’s faces, behind their eyes. People wear various masks, be it your mother, cook, colleague or tennis buddy. We all have different personas. So with this film, I have tried to scratch the surface of those personas and see what is going on."
After duds like Sanam Re and Junooniyat, Pulkit Samrat seems to have an interesting role in this film. The actor said that he is playing the man-next-door in this film.Therefore, he said that he had to adjust his look and mannerisms. The actor revealed during the trailer launch of the film that Mukherjee, the director of 3 Storeys, asked him to drop his swagger for his role. “I majorly had to work on throwing my swag away," the actor revealed.
While Samrat had to make his act swag-less, Richa Chadda had to work on her sex appeal. Talking about her role, the actress said, “I loved the character, she is like a fantasy creature everybody is swooning over. Her name is Leela. I enjoyed playing this kind of a role because I normally don’t get to do this. That’s why it was very fun for me."
Samrat and Chadda may be the stars of the film, but if the trailer is any indication, it is Renuka Shahane who has the most interesting and intriguing character to play. She plays the role of an old Christian lady who has a lot of skeletons in her closet, which she had been guarding for many years.
“As an actor, I am so excited to be playing this role." Shahane said during the launch of 3 Storeys trailer. “To sink your teeth into a character which is not from your milieu at all is very rare for any actor. So playing this character had been a fantastic journey."
Shahane also spoke about her Marathi film, which will mark the debut of Madhuri Dixit in Marathi cinema. The two actresses will share the screens after Hum Aapke Hai Koun, which released back in 1994.
“After 23 years, I will be working with Madhuri Dixit again. It is a dream to work with her. I have to say that if anybody gets a chance to work with her, be it a producer, an actor or a director, they should give money and do it. She is that fantastic," Shahane said.
The film was slated to release earlier. However, the makers decided to shift the release date recently. “Because of Padmavaat, a lot of films were getting delayed… We had to find the right release date for the film because it is a special and small film, and you need to give it the right release," said producer Ritesh Sidhwani at the trailer launch.
