New Delhi: The much talked about 'World Culture Festival' that began on Friday rings in its last day today. The three-day cultural extravaganza, that is taking place on the Yamuna flood plains as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar embarks Art of Living's 35 glorious years.
The festival that aims to bring together people of talent and eminence at the same platform opened amidst the nature's defiant test of thunderstorm. While we've a heard a lot about the traffic issues that this festival has bestowed the capital with, here are some things that you need to know about the basic arrangements that the event has to offer.
With a transportable water machine installed at every regular intervals, there's a supply of drinking water at Rs.2 apart from the regular sealed bottles that are being sold at the mini kiosks. The major food items you might get to see are the ones being introduced under the banner of 'Sri Sri Food' chains that include potato chips, tomato tangled wafers and a lime soda drink among others. Despite some stalls of Pizza Hut, Costa Coffee and other eating outlets set up right near the entrance, there's a dearth of eatables inside the main venue.
One thing that's worth pointing out are the shuttle services being provided inside the venue for travelling to one gate from another; but then their plying frequencies are definitely a matter of concern.
With a massive security that is guarding the area, the event turns out to be safe despite so many people turning up in superlative numbers. Yes, there are screens installed to catch the action from the stage, but courtesy the bad weather even they weren't functional on the first day.
All in all, like every event, this one too has its own share of positives and negatives but the effort is definitely commendable. It's totally upto you to take a call on whether you would like to spend your Sunday treating your spiritual self or just sleep it off on a couch.
