With the upcoming edition of FDCI's Amazon India Fashion Week (Spring-Summer 2017), the fashion business is officially back in the capital. Kick-starting on October 12, the event will present a plethora of designs which will conclude leaving behind many fashion trends for the fashionistas to follow.
The 28th edition of the fashion week, helmed by the Fashion Design Council Of India, will see a total of 110 designers showcasing their collections through the runway and stall area at NSIC grounds, Okhla. For those itching to know what all to expect from the gala, here’s a quick glimpse.
India Modern Festive
The theme of this time’s fashion galore is ‘India Modern Festive’. With selections curated for festivities, the 5-day-event will open with the re-interpretation of Chanderi and close with a never-seen-before Guru-Shishya presentation. 23 style gurus will explore the possibilities that the handloom legacy offers on the first two days with an aim to revive the rich heritage of Indian weaves. For the opening day, 16 designers have also joined hands with Scindia family of Gwalior, in the upliftment of Chanderi weaver clusters. The festive rendition, however, will be brought to life by JJ Valaya and Alapana-Neeraj’s show on its closing day. While Valaya’s designs will represent the festive part, Alpana-Neeraj will redefine Modern with their restrained sculpting.
Italy As Partner Country
The upcoming edition is not just important as it’ll set trends for the months to follow but also because it marks an important association between India and Italy in the world of style and fashion. A special show titled ‘Fashion Appeals from Shoulders To Heels’ will provide a platform to Assocalzaturifici (Italian Footwear Manufacturers' Association) and Aimpes (Italian Leather goods Manufacturers' Association) to showcase a collection of leather goods from 41 leading Italian brands. Designers like Alberto Zambelli, Bav Tailor, Davide Grillo and Leitmotiv will also present their designs on October 12.
