KOCHI: Ernakulam YWCA celebrated its 86th annual and hostel day on Saturday. Tribal Cooperative Marketing Federation MD Jiji Thomson IAS was the chief guest. Speaking on the crucial responsibility of women as mothers, Jiji Thomson said that being spiritual and being religious are different and no matter what religion one follows, life on earth becomes heavenly if one becomes truly spiritual. The true spirituality lies in being empathetic, he added.He also launched the website of YWCA (www.ywcaeranakulam.org). YWCA president Susie A Cherian presided over the function. Susan Kuruvilla, vice-presidents Susan Paul and Chechamma Jacob spoke on the occasion. Sheelu Thomson distributed the prizes to winners of various talent contests and sports events. Variety of entertainment programmes by the members and hostelites added colours to the day.
