Yeddyurappa convinced of his position in BJP

KOPPAL: Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa conceded that he was convinced about his position in the BJP, both as a former CM and sitting MLA.After some legislators and my followers portrayed me as the undisputed leader of the party, I had asked for a suitable position from the high command,” said the former CM, adding, “however, i am now aware of my position.”He was here on Wednesday along with officials and elected representatives to assess the drought situation in the district.To a query, he clarified that state party president K S Eshwarappa could be asked to resolve the dissidence within the BJP. The dropping of media advisor R P Jagadish, in Yeddyurappa’s words, was “Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda’s prerogative”. Averring that drought relief works need to pick up pace, he said that he would tour the entire state and submit a report on the situation to the CM.“The government must release `5 crore each to all the drought-hit districts, instead of relying upon Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme funds. The Union government must release `500 crore immediately to tackle the drought,” the former CM exhorted.Removal of silt to the extent of 30 tmc ft in Tungabhadra Reservoir must be prioritised, he said.
