The Writers Guild of America has urged a boycott of the awards ceremony.
New Delhi: The Golden Globe Awards ceremony will not be held this year. The prestigious annual awards show which acts as a precursor to the Oscars ran into rough weather due to the ongoing strike by the Writers Guild of America.
Most of the top actors nominated for the awards had already boycotted the Golden Globes in a show of solidarity towards the striking writers.
The awards ceremony that was to be held on January 13 will now be reduced to a press conference where the names of the award winners will read out.
The cancellation of the awards now puts a question mark on the Oscars too since most actors including George Clooney have boycotted both the awards this year.
