New Delhi: An 111-year-old Japanese Tomoji Tanabe has been name the world's oldest man by the Guinness World Book of Records.
Tanabe says he's still alive because he has steered clear of alcohol.
The 111-year-old also said he does not smoke and never forgets his daily glass of milk.
Tanabe lives with his 66-year-old son and daughter-in-law in Miya konojo, about 900 km from Tokyo on the island of Kyushu met the city's mayor to receive a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records recognising him as the oldest man.
But Tanabe has still some time before he equals 114-year-old Yone Minagawa.
Minagawa who is listed by Guinness as the world's oldest person also lives in Kyushu.
A former shepherd in Ukraine, Hyrhory Nestor, also claims that title, saying he celebrated his 116th birthday in March.
