CHENNAI: A complaint of chit fund fraud was filed with the city police on Thursday.In his complaint addressed to the police commissioner, Sundararajan, a resident of Venkatapuram in Ambattur, alleged that he was denied the money that he had invested by Chithra, the person who ran the fund, During the chit auction, a quarrel broke out between Chitra and Sundararajan. Following this, Chithra issued him a cheque for Rs 85,000, which was the amount he had invested.On December 26, Sundararajan deposited the cheque in a bank. However, a couple of days later, the bank informed him that a ‘stop payment’ instruction was issued by the account holder against the cheque. When he confronted Chithra over this, she reportedly told him that she did not have money to repay him.Job racket complaint lodged against PHC optician Ramakrishnan (40) of Nanganallur lodged a complaint on behalf of 10 others alleging that an optician working in a government hospital promised them jobs in primary healthcare centres and cheated them of several lakhs. The complainant alleged that about 40 persons from other districts also paid Rs 2.5 lakh each, and were cheated.“He was working in a PHC in Thachur village before he got the money from me. After that he got transfer to Kanyakumari district where he is working as an optician in a government hospital. I also found that he had cheated 40 others persons like me in the similar manner,” Ramakrishnan said. He alleged that other job aspirants were also threatened.
