THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Lok Ayukta Bench on Thursday began the witness examination of a case regarding alleged anomalies in the recruitment process of assistants to the Kerala University in 2005. The case is based on a petition filed by S S Sujith, who was a University Senate member during the period 2007-08. In the petition, Sujith had alleged that the final ranklist was tampered with by the respondents to eliminate eligible candidates. He said that there were also discrepancies in the conduct of the written test of the same in which several candidates had appeared. Earlier, a Lok Ayukta Bench had found that a case existed based on the complaint filed by the petitioner. However, the respondents, including the then Kerala University Vice-Chancellor and selected candidates moved the High Court. The High Court had then appointed a committee headed by Justice N Sukumaran, which recommended consideration of the petition.ENS The petitioner submitted a main affidavit before the legal forum on Thursday, following which his statements were cross-examined by the counsels of the respondents.
