PUDUCHERRY: People of the Union Territory celebrated Vinayaka Chathurthi with traditional fervour on Thursday. Special pujas were performed at various temples across UT. Long queues were witnessed at the Mankula Vinayagar Devasthanam, where the celebrations began as early as 4 am. Special theeparathanai was held at 5.30 am.People thronged the temple and offered prayers to the god of knowledge and remover of obstacles.The Vinayaka temples in other parts of the town also witnessed heavy rush and devotees offered prasadam to people after the end of pujas in their respective areas.Huge idols of Lord Ganesha were kept as part of the Chathurthi celebrations in various parts of the territory, which will be immersed on September 5.
