THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: If you get bored of gulping down all that ‘payasam’ and vegetarian delicacies that make up the Onam feast, a trip to the Vellar tourist village one of these days would gift you a different taste. The Kudumbashree has kicked off a trade fair and food festival , that showcases cuisines from all over Kerala there. Out of the total 20 stalls put up at Vellar, seven are exclusively for food. The tasty seafood dishes from Kottayam form the highlight of the food fest. ‘Kinnathappam’ from Kannur and ‘Aripathiri’ from Malabar is also available. The typical ‘thattu’ items like dosa and idli can also be savoured. If you are a non-veggie then you can binge on meat and fish items as well. Fresh vegetables and other home-made items by Kudumbashree units have also been put up for sale. The units have also some entertainment packed for visitors. Various art forms such as Oppana, Thiruvathirakali, Kolkali and drama have been oraganised. The performances are held in the evenings.
