CHENNAI: Fans of city rock outfit Public Issue got a chance to see their mellow side on Wednesday evening. The band usually known to be quite a live wire stage act took a seat (literally) and played their first ever acoustic show at Bike and Barrel, Residency Towers in T Nagar. Pub goers enjoyed a fun ride down memory lane with classics from the Doobie Brothers, Stevie Wonder and The Beatles.Perhaps one of the highlights of the evening was PI’s rendition of Man in the Mirror (Michael Jackson) — the group went all out with their harmonies. Then there was the upbeat Crazy lil thing called love (Queen), complete with a mouth organ solo that got a number of cheers from enthused members of the audience. When the power went out mid-song in the latter half of the evening, one might think this would have dampened the mood for some. But five minutes later the band simply took off right where they had stopped, finishing the final chorus of the ever popular Ain’t No Sunshine. It was one of those nights where every second song on the setlist had you humming and singing along.Sadly, the only let down was a more contemporary Rolling in the Deep (Adele). Then again, Rolling in the River (CCR) well made up for it.
