Former Additional Director General of Police K Thukkaiandi (60) has moved the Madras High Court for a direction to the authorities concerned to transfer the land grabbing cases filed against his family members to the CBI.
Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar, before whom the writ plea from Thukkaiandi came up, ordered notice to the government and top police officials, returnable in two weeks. Andi’s interim prayer was to stay the probe into the cases by the inspector, Central Crime Branch, Team-XVII, Egmore. He said the inspector was attempting to arrest him and his family by resorting to unfair and mala fide probe and hence, the interest of justice required that the cases be transferred to CBI. Since he had refused to file a plea in a Bangalore court for further probe, he and his family were subjected to harassment, he added.
