...and is hopeful that the new state govt. will help the Bengali film industry

After being one of the pillars of Trinamool Congress' success in the West Bengal Assembly elections, an ailing Bengali film industry is hopeful of patronage from the new state government.

In accordance with Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee's pre-poll promise of giving top priority to films and developing a state-of-the-art film city, the newly-elected MLAs drawn from Tollywood have readied plans for the Tollygunj-based film industry.

Trinamool's celluloid team comprises four MLAs and two MPs besides scores of other film personalities who supported the party to bring down the three-decade-old Communist rule in the state.

"I know more about films then I know about Barasat, the constituency from where I won. Therefore, after Barasat my second priority will be ensure how the film industry gets benefitted," actor-turned-politician Chiranjeet Chakrabarti said.

50-year-old Chiranjeet, best known for his action films in the nineties, said that building a proper studio infrastructure should be the top agenda.
