Three prisoners attempt suicide in AP jail

Machilipatnam: Three under-trial prisoners allegedly attempted suicide in the sub-jail in Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh, police said on Friday.

According to Machilipatnam Sub-jail Superintendent V Durga Rao the trio - B Ashok Chakravarthy, Sonti Durga Rao and V Sivakumar - tried to end their life on Thursday night by consuming broken pieces of fluorescent bulb in the prison and inflicted injuries on their hands.

All the three were immediately shifted to Vijayawada Government Hospital. They were later brought back to the jail on Friday after the doctors said that their condition was out of danger, the police added.
