This Organisation In Karnataka Is Helping Landowners Set Up Their Farm

Founded in 2021, by Ganesh Hegde from Hemagara located in the Uttara Kannada district, Krishigram aims to bring a scientific approach to farming in the field which has no one to take care of. The organisation takes all responsibilities pertaining to farming. They take all necessary steps to conduct proper farming. Ganesh Hegde, an MBA graduate who was working in a private company in Bengaluru, took the decision to solve this issue after he noticed some neglected farms in the Malenadu region of the state of Karnataka. This led him to open the organisation, which reportedly operates on a corporate farming system.

The organisation employs agricultural scientists, managers, supervisors, and labourers to inspect the farm and carry out the necessary work. According to a report by Local 18, this organisation presently manages 200 acres of agricultural land.

In an interview with Local 18, Ganesh said, “Usually for an existing farm, a one-year contract is required while for a new farm, a 5-year contract is necessary. We also take care of the marketing department of the crops that are grown in the fields. Once a person hands over their farm to us, we handle everything from growing the crops to selling them and handing the profits to the owner of the farm.”

The organisation prioritises the scientific farming system. They grow various crops in accordance with the appropriate climate. Adding to it, they also provide regular updates to the farm owners through an application, ensuring complete transparency. The owner mentioned that around 80-100 people are presently working. He further added, “Our services are available in the Malenadu regions of Mundgod, Sirsi, Siddapura, Yellapur, Sagara, Soraba, Banavasi, and Thirthahalli.
