However, the minimum temperature was recorded two notches above the season's average at 9 degrees Celsius.

"As the visibility was reported to be low, flight operations have been hit," said the spokesperson of the Indira Gandhi International Airport. According to the Northern Railway, around 31 trains en-route to Delhi were running late, while four were rescheduled.

With dense fog engulfing the city, people had to switch on their vehicles's fog lights. "The visibility was extremely poor and driving in fog is difficult," said Akriti Sood, who travels to Gurgaon for work.

The day's maximum temperature is likely to hover around 20 degrees Celsius. Humidity at 8:30 am was 100 per cent.

Sunday's maximum temperature was recorded at 21 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 8 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average.
