Los Angeles: The popular animated drama The Simpsons is all set to become the longest running prime time show in US TV history.
The Simpsons featuring the antics of Homer, Marge, Lisa Bart and Maggie, first hit the US television in 1989.
The show, which completes 450 episodes, was extended for two more series by Fox network.
The new 44 episodes over two seasons will bring the total number of shows to 493 for the Simpsons.
The 21st series of popular show will air in September while the 22nd series will be shown next year, Hollywood Reporter said.
With two more series, the show will break the record of Western drama Gunsmoke which ran from 1955 to 1975. The popular show, which has won 24 Emmy awards, was made into a feature film in 2007.
