Kolkata: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has slammed the Narendra Modi government for its alleged failure to control violence in Vadodara recently.
The actor had faced the ire of the BJP and the Congress workers in Gujarat when he lent his support to the Narmada Dam protest in Jantar Mantar in New Delhi last month.
“I think it is (Vadodara incident) very sad. What happened in Gujarat a few years ago was also equally unfortunate. It's a shame that the administration is not able to control the situation there which is resulting in deaths of innocent people,” Khan said.
“It doesn't matter which religion these victims belong to. The bottomline is they are all human beings. It seems to me that the law and order machinery or the administration is simply not capable of controlling the situation,” the actor said responding to a query from a fan.
Khan also criticised the US President George Bush’s Iraq policy.
“What Bush is doing is absolutely wrong. The people of Iraq should decide for themselves and not let some outside forces do that.”
“The US troops had invaded Iraq saying Saddam Hussain possessed the weapons of mass destruction, but we all know that it wasn't true,” he said.
The actor strongly advocated close co-operation between Indian and Pakistani artistes and said he would consider a good Pakistani film offer.
“There is a lot of talent in India and Pakistan. I think the two countries should come together and entertain the world audience,” Khan said.
Khan said this during an interactive interview to the BBC Asian Network's new Hindi/Urdu show.
