All in a day's work just for laughs. That was the mantra for Punjab's police on the first day of the New Year.

New Delhi: All in a day's work just for laughs. That was the mantra for Punjab's police as they began their New Year with a de-stressing laughter session on Monday.

Over 1200 police personnel of the Punjab Armed Police personnel from all ranks attended the laughing session in Jalandhar on January 1.

"We have to work in stressful situations so our officers decided to start our new year with a laughing session. We feel very comfortable in this session," ANI quoted police personnel, Gagan Chawla, as saying.

Police personnel complained that the social and religious functions they attended were minimal, as security requirements kept them at work most of the time.

"Whenever there are festivals or functions we have to be on duty. We were on duty even yesterday on New Year eve. We are feeling nice to begin New Year laughing along with our seniors," said another police personnel, Ravi Kumar to ANI.

And it was not just a laughter challenge of sorts, they also danced to Punjabi songs.

Superintendent of Police-Training of Punjab Police Pawan Kumar Uppal, explained that police duty was very stressful and did not give them any time to spend with families. To lessen this stress, they had started the laughing session since the past five years.
