Sometimes we just enjoy eating and forget about the ingredients and nutrition value in our meal. This  frequents our visit to doctors. According to scientists, organic food is free of over 7000 artificial or chemical preservatives and additives permitted in non-organic food including colours, stabilisers, fillers, residual antibiotics, hydrogenated fats, which are a cause for many diseases. The two-day exhibition hosted by EDEDAA at Inorbit Mall had on display around 30 photographs from villages of Kerala and Kolkatta, showcasing the process of producing organic products. “Our aim is to make people aware of the usefulness of organic products and help farmers sell their products. So that they continue to produce more fair trade products,” says EDEDAA founder Naval. The pictures were displayed in a chronological order to show that the instant food we eat everyday requires a long procedure of production making it lose the basic nutritional value. While some pictures explained the process of planting cotton till its harvest and stitching a dress from it, several others show the ways of using natural pesticides by farmers, like — attracting attention of insects to the yellow colour or plant they like more, which helps save the crop without using any chemical pesticides. Also, there were photos of documents of various organisations supporting the field work — which show the experience and result of farmers’ works in their villages. Apart from a display of informative pictures about the production of organic products, the exhibition also had a sale of a variety of organic products. Some of them were — Jowar, Bajra, Ragulu, Rice, Redgram , Blackgram, Honey, Green tea, Foxtail millet, Flax seed, Coffee powder, Bath scrubber, among others. Organic T-shirts were also available for sale. If you have missed out on the exhibition, you can log on to www.ecodukaan.com and buy some organic products online.
